Dyson Airwrap

It was love at first sight for me and my Dyson Airwrap! This product is a dream tool for a girl with thin and flat hair! My tresses are very low maintenance. I’m a wash and go kind of girl, simply because my hair is straight, fine, and thin, so it just dries out naturally and keeps itself straight. I have always wanted to have wavy voluminous hair, but it seems so difficult and time consuming to use a hair curler everyday. I have one, and have slightly burned myself a couple of times while using it. The Dyson Airwrap uses the coanda effect to style hair without extreme heat. It doesn’t damage the hair whilst still keeping it shiny. The complete set has 2 sets of barrels, a round volumizing brush, pre styling dryer, and smoothing brushes. Imagine all the looks you can do with this innovative hair tool! It’s such a hair game changer for me and I love it!

Posting a video about how I achieve the causal curls using my Airwrap. I use multiple hair products for the curls to hold because my hair is super fine. I hope this tutorial helps you. It takes a few tries to get used to it, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes so easy to use!

Benefit Brow Contour Pro

I was anticipating the launch of this product as soon as I saw it in one of the Benebabes’ instagram stories! Benefit had me at the mechanical pencil packaging. It’s too cute! I felt nostalgic, as it brought me back to my yesteryears in school! lol.

Aside from having a cute packaging, I thought it was very clever and practical to have an all-in-one eyebrow product. The brow contour pro has a lighter shade for the inner part of the brow and a darker one for the arch to the tip. I always do this ombré technique as it makes the brows look a lot more natural. It also has a concealer to define and clean up the brows, and a highlighter to bring light to the brow bone. I like that the product is long lasting too! It was still visible after an intense class of indoor cycling. I just wonder how long the product will last, I hope it doesn’t run out so quickly since it’s a compact all-in-one pen packaging.

I have received a number of questions on how to use it. So here’s a quick tutorial for you. It’s my first time to film, edit, and record voice over using my phone hence the difference in quality. I just wanted to get things done quickly and edit while lying down. lol. Enjoy the tutorial! Let me know if you bought one and love it as much as I do! 🙂

Yellow Eyeshadow

I have been a tad bit bored with using neutrals on my eyes. So lately, I have been playing with colour. I received a lot of compliments when I wore this yellow eyeshadow in an event. It surely brought sunshine to my day. I’m breaking it down for those who are interested to do this on themselves. Feeling a little brave? Surprise yourself and try this look ! I matched it with a yellow dress for a monochromatic look! Enjoy!

Bridal Collection 2018

Bridal makeup is close to my heart. I did my sister’s and one of my best friend’s bridal makeup and it feels so special to be with brides on one of the most memorable days of their lives, especially if the bride is someone close to you. There is pressure in doing bridal makeup, but it is very rewarding especially when your brides give you a note of appreciation or when the groom tells you that you made his bride the most beautiful version of herself. For this bridal shoot, I was so happy to finally be able to work with my sister-in-law and talented wedding fashion designer, Hallie Vy Yeo, for her 2018 collection.

Glow Makeup Workshop

Achieving luminous skin has never been this hot! (but nothing will still beat the Manila heat!) Call it what you want, the glass skin or the dewy dumpling is the look you would want to try right now. Last May, I had my first solo makeup workshop, no collaborations, just me and my slight obsession with the glow.

This is the glass skin look I did for a bridal shoot that I wanted to teach my students:

The key to glowing skin happens before the makeup. I use a serum or an essence and a moisturiser on dry areas of the face, avoiding the naturally oily parts of the skin and areas with large pores. I top it off with a light to medium coverage foundation, use a cream blush, and add a generous amount of highlighter. I dust powder only on my t-zone and sides of the nose. Voila! I get a fresh and glowing base!

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this workshop and all our generous sponsors, this event will not be possible without you. Thanks Calyxta for lending us your cool space once again. It’s always a safe makeup haven for us! Thank you Belo for our gift cards, it will surely  help our participants achieve glowing skin. Belo helped me clear my forehead bumps. Thank you Nuxe for the goodie bag and your continuous support. I’m happy that our winners will get to try your famous dry oil. It’s my favorite post shower oil before I go to bed! It smells divine and keeps the skin soft. Thank you Benefit for the fab goodies and prizes. My participants are always happy to receive goodies from you. Thank you Boggy for assisting the ladies and for being my co-makeup artist. Thank you Cathy Ang for always taking lovely photos. Thanks Olga for being so nice to work with. Last but not least, thanks Little Red Riding Hood styling for our summer backdrop!

Beauty Bar Summer Cult Favorites

Welcoming the peak of summer with these awesome products available in Beauty Bar! The first brand the caught my interest was Not Your Mother’s. I first heard about it from my hair stylist friend, Mycke Arcano, as he recommended this brand for it’s volumizing hair powder. It is a brand that creates salon quality products at reasonable price points. DSC08057

Hairstylist Daniel first applied the Love For Hue colour hair protectant that was formulated to treat coloured hair. After curling my hair, he finished off my curls with the She’s a Tease volumizing hair spray because I have thin and limp hair. Love it!

I got feedback from friends too about how much they love their dry shampoo! 🙂 This looks like such a promising brand, with great reviews!

Another product that I love is Sun Bum! It’s perfect for me, since I am such a beach bum. I have tried their sunscreen spray and I love that it smells like coconuts and is infused with vitamin E and an antioxidant to fight premature skin ageing.

It’s my first time to come across this brand, but it had me at Pawpaw. I use a pawpaw balm in my makeup kit to deeply moisturise lips! Excited to try my multipurpose balm that claims to moisturise lips and skin, smooth unruly brows, and soften cuticles.

Last but not least is Full Brow. It’s a one stop shop for all your brow needs — they have a brow smudge, crayon, and powder! What stood out for me was the brow wax. It seals brows for a long lasting wear, perfect for the beach! It’s also formulated with castor oil to nourish the brows. Another product that I liked was the highlighter pencil. It’s luminous but not glittery, it gives you a nice dewy glow!

All these items are available in Beauty Bar. You may also visit their website here. Happy shopping! You won’t regret having these summer cult favourites in your beach bag!

6 Ways to Apply Eyeliner

Applying eyeliner is one of the most challenging makeup skills to learn, but do not fret because there are many different ways to do it. I can think of more than 10 ways to do an eyeliner, but in this video I will demonstrate the simplest way to apply it for an everyday on-the-go look, perfect for the makeup novices out there, and also a more advanced look when you have a little more time to prepare for a night out or an event.  The best tip that I can give you is to get pointed cotton swabs that will help you easily erase mistakes (because we all make mistakes), sharpen the edges, and make the wings aligned. Another advice is do not be too hard on yourself because practice is really the key to applying the perfect eyeliner.
