Beauty & Bordeaux

In my most recent workshop, I combined two of my favorite interests — makeup and wine! It’s not your usual pairing, but when you bring a bunch of women together to learn about makeup and drink wine, you know it’s going to be fun! I collaborated with Rox Lee of Artisan Cellar Door and we brought Manila’s first French wine tasting and makeup workshop. Our participants learned about French beauty, which focuses more on skin care and keeping things fresh and natural, definitely nothing over the top! Despite not being included in the usual French makeup routine, I also added basic contouring as requested by my participants. I did a makeup demonstration first (before anyone got tipsy. lol) and then challenged my participants to focus on just one facial feature, either the lips or the eyes, and keep everything else natural. Our participants also got to taste different kinds of Bordeaux wine and learn about it as well. Lourds gave us basic bordeaux wine information and taught us how to broaden our wine options and go beyond just ordering the restaurant’s house wine. Towards the end of the workshop, giggles turned into laughter, new friendships were formed, and the atmosphere became happier and more relaxed, those are definitely effects of the combination of wine and makeup!

I would like to thank all our sponsors for their generosity. Thanks Nuxe for indulging our participants with a cute travel size bottle of huile prodigieuse — my favourite after bath oil, it nourishes my skin and it smells absolutely divine. Nuxe is definitely one of the best French skin care brands out there. Thanks Bobbi Brown for the cream blush that will surely give our participants a rosy glow. Thanks Origins for sending your brand’s best selling skin care treatment and mask. Last but not least, thanks L’oreal for the mascaras and lip balms! This event would not be as successful without your support. I am forever grateful!

Pond’s Intensive Wrinkle Correcting Cream

DSC03118

Let’s face it. Women these days are very busy working, raising a family, running a business, making sure the house is spotless, keeping fit, and doing more things that tires me just trying to enumerate them all. We need a product that will work 24/7 on our skin, just like Pond’s new Intensive Wrinkle Correcting Cream. It looks promising because it contains the ingredient Retinol C — an ingredient made of vitamin A that is one of the best vitamins you can apply to your face. Vitamin A generates skin cells, repairs cell damage, reduces sebum, and prevents dead cell build up in pores. It is effective in treating acne and signs of skin ageing like wrinkles and fine lines. It’s really a star ingredient in skincare for me, and it has always been a part of my skincare regimen. The Intensive Wrinkle Correcting Cream also combines powerful micro oils such as Jojoba Oil, Argan Oil, Sweet Almond oil, Rosehip Oil, and Marula Oil to moisturise the skin. I’m excited to try it alongside the Pond’s Age Miracle Day Cream for a 24 hour anti-aging treatment!

The long wait is over! H&M is stepping up their game with a new beauty line, and it is finally in Manila! They launched at their flagship store in SM Megamall last September 15, 2017. Aside from the comprehensive selection of make up and nail polish, their beauty line also consists of bodycare, haircare, and beauty tools.

I just finished doing errands with my kids before heading to the event, hence the very causal and comfy OOTD — my uniform when I’m too busy to think about what to wear! Lately, I have been wearing black leggings with black shoes for an edgier look.

Unfortunately, I had tech problems this week and all my IG stories from this day wasn’t saved in my temporary phone. So, here’s a video to show swatches of a few products:

Products:

Pure Radiance Powder Blusher (Deep Brown)

Eyeliner Pot (Dark Chocolate)

Lip Colour-To-Go (Bonne Vivante)

Happy Beautylista

My very first makeup workshop, Happy Beautylista, was held last June 3, 2017.  I taught my students different makeup techniques to achieve a natural look and my co-facilitator and life coach friend, Kimi Lu, took care of nurturing their inner beauty through positive thinking and feel good exercises. My students learned basic makeup and were very eager to learn about contouring, highlighting, and shaping the eyebrows — well, because kilay is life and of course everyone wants to look slim, sculpted, and glowing at the right places!

We were so happy with the outpour of support given to us by our generous sponsors. We would like to thank Calyxta, Benefit, L’oreal, Rudy Project, Fitness 360, illuminate ph, and  Lifestyle Salon by Louis Philip Kee for the gift certificates and goodies for all our participants! It was a such a fun, light, and feel good afternoon that was all about makeup and good vibes! We actually had to extend the workshop because everyone was so eager to learn! Thank you queen of protons for pushing me to do this! We would also  like to thank our very first batch of happy beautylistas for attending the workshop! All of you made Kimi and I very happy!

Get Ready with Me in Coron

For summer vacation this year, we went to Coron in Palawan. It is just one of the 7,107 islands in the Philippines! Why travel far when there are so much more places to explore in our own country?! The island boasts of white sand beaches, turquoise water, crystal clear lakes, enchanting lagoons, marvelous rock formations, and rich marine life — no wonder it is ranked as a top travel destination in the world!

We stayed in a villa at Club Paradise with a beach front that welcomes you as you step out of the room. I love that they serve coffee and hot chocolate for the kids every morning at the villa’s porch, where you can just relax on a hammock and listen to the sound of the waves and watch birds flying by as you sip your coffee. Snorkeling there is also a fun activity! We saw a giant clam, school of fish, stingray, octopus, and a sea turtle — the cutest of them all! We were able to book a Coron Island tour in the airport and we saw destinations like the Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon, and Green Lagoon. We hope to come back next time and explore the other beautiful islands!

Check out my video from the trip! Aside from showing you snippets of our Coron adventure, I will also show you how I get ready for the beach (with kids in tow) and my usual beach makeup routine. It is very light and natural! I used Benefit products for this video — it’s the makeup brand I use on my days off because it is so easy and simple to use. This one is special because it’s my first travel + makeup video! I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Products used:

  • Boiing Airbrush Concealer (1)
  • Goof Proof Brow Pencil (3)
  • Browvo Conditioning Primer
  • Precisely My Brow Pencil
  • GoGo Tint (will be available in SEAsia sometime this year)
  • Watts Up Highlighter

3D Microbladed Brow Makeup

You have probably seen countless sponsored videos on Facebook and Instagram that demonstrates microblading of brows, also known as the 3D Eyebrow Embroidery. It’s quite mesmerising to see none existent Whoopi Goldberg eyebrows transform into Cara Delevingne eyebrows. It’s a huge leap from the old school permanent tattooed eyebrows  that becomes greenish blue after quite some time. I like how micro bladed brows look if done well, but I have also seen horror stories online of microblading gone wrong! So if you are like me, who just simply can’t commit to one eyebrow look for 2 full years, and don’t mind filling in your brows with makeup (the makeup geek in me actually enjoys it :P), Here’s another option you can do with makeup to achieve that microbladed eyebrow look! I just find a sense of comfort knowing that I can erase anything I put on my face at the end of the day. lol.

For this video, I used:

  • Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in shade 3
  • K-palette Real Lasting Eyebrow in shade 1 (don’t go too dark to achieve a natural look)
  • Benefit Browvo! Conditioning Primer

Sparkle (Editorial Look)

The makeup world is far from over the strobing craze. These days, it’s all about highlighting, glowing, and the lit from within look – the brighter the highlighter, the better! I am taking the look a notch higher by creating this editorial look and adding sparkles! Yes, because highlighting is simply too basic for me right now. lol! Another huge spring makeup trend now that I demonstrated in the video is the tonal or monochromatic makeup. This is when your lipstick, blush, and eye shadow, are all in the same colour family. I have been doing this style for a very long time now, and in the makeup world things get hyped up and it becomes a “trend.” Same goes for highlighting, it’s very big right now, even a tad bit exaggerated, yet still a very old makeup artist technique.

This look is an editorial look and is not meant to be worn as an everyday look. lol. It’s just a fun way to play with makeup. Just a reminder Beautylistas, Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle and blind the haters with your glow! 😛
