Yultide Gorg Hair and Makeup Workshop

Before the end of 2018, We set up a hair and makeup workshop to help women prepare for the December holiday parties. I collaborated with my hairstylist friend and colleague in the beauty industry, Mycke Arcano. We met in Mega Fashion Crew — a reality show we were both part of in 2011. Since then, we’ve been working together in various weddings, shoots, and gigs. He is very talented, hardworking, funny, and easy going. Basically, he was the one for the job, and he nailed it!

Collaboration with Mycke Arcano

I taught basic makeup and the most fool proof way to do a winged liner, for that instant glam effect. Here are some snippets from the basic makeup workshop:

I used the australis banana powder to prep and powder the lids before applying eyeshadow. Applying powder makes the eye shadow apply smoothly.
Tape trick to for an easy perfect eyeliner flick.
I wet the eyeshadow if i want the pigments to become more intense. Using Mac Fix Plus here.
Highlighting using the happy skin highlighter pen! See that glow?
Sharing my tips on foundation
The brows are the frames of the face! Keep it more straight for a more youthful look.
Here I am applying the australis banana powder to set concealer. It gives a more airbrushed flawless look

Mycke talked to us about face shapes and hairstyles suited for each face shape.

discussing face shapes

He also showed us a few hairstyles inspired by the 90’s that we can easily replicate at home.

BadGal Bang!

Benefit just launched their most recent product — BadGal Bang! It’s a 36 hour volumizing mascara, another addition to their super curling and lengthening mascaras. I tried it on during the event after giving my lashes a good curl, and lo and behold, major volume!!! To make sure the curl holds, I curled my lashes again from the roots to the tips for that bulletproof hold. Voilà! It was like wearing natural false lashes! A little product goes a long way,  so with just a thin coat, this is what it did for my eyelashes:

It separated my lashes and added volume too!

Benefit launches are always so much fun! They always make it more interactive and exciting by hosting fun games for the guests! For this event, we had to play Space Bingo to claim a special prize!

My prize for completing the Space Bingo! OMG so cute! It lights up too!

Both my daughters wanted it so I gave them time to discuss how they’re going to solve this issue. lol! They came up with a borrowing schedule! Problem solved!

It’s hers from Monday to Wednesday. lol! This is life with 2 kids! Now, she’s the coolest little space girl in school!

What’s in the goodie bag?

Thanks for having me at the launch, Benefit! The BADgal mascara will be making it’s way in to my makeup pouch! So far, it’s my favourite Benefit mascara. If you want voluminous lashes, then this BADgal mascara is for you! 🙂

Holiday Look: Glitters!

My all time favourite product to use during the holiday season is the Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner (Midnight Cowboy) by Urban Decay. It is the perfect glitter to use on the eyelids! It is also versatile – one can use it as an eyeliner, on top of an eyeliner, or all over the lids just like what I did. The best thing about it is that the glitter stays in place once it has dried. It does not dry up in the bottle and the consistency remains the same even after a year! I paired this look with a red lipstick. No other make-up says christmas like a perfect red lip! I used the classic Ruby Woo by Mac for this look.

Products used:

  • POREfessional by Benefit
  • RMK Creamy Gel Foundation in 102 and Born This Way Foundation in Light Beige as subtle foundation contour
  • Shu Uemura Hard Formula in Acorn and Walnut Brown
  • Maybelline Gel Eye Liner in Black
  • Naked 2 Palette (half baked) and Naturally Pretty Palette (Warmth, Java, Noir, Sunrise)
  • Maybelline Falsies Volume Express Waterproof Mascara
  • Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer in Custard
  • Chanel Les Beiges
  • Mac Ruby Woo

Enjoy the holidays!
