The Kylie Lipkit was the most anticipated and talked about lip product ever to be released. Thanks to brilliant social media marketing, months and hours leading to its release date. When it finally launched, the website crashed and the lip kits were sold out in a matter of minutes. All I can do is stand up and slow clap for Kylie. She really knows how to keep beauty junkies at the edge of their seats. The first few times it came out, you were lucky to be able to purchase one. I tried purchasing online myself, logged in 20 minutes after its release announcement, and unfortunately didn’t make it on time – I was already typing my payment details!!! If you don’t have lighting speed typing skills, then say goodbye to whatever was in your cart! I ended up buying one from a reseller for P2600 probably (around $55). The price was fair enough since the kits have two products inside, a liner and a liquid lipstick. Also, I have seen others sell it for P5000 and even P8000, crazy right?!
Matte Liquid Lipstick and Lip Liner: Koko K and Candy K
Koko K is a nude pink colour. Here it is worn on my lips and against my complexion. I am fair skinned, with yellow under tone, probably NC 20 at MAC. I really like this one. It’s very soft and feminine.
Candy K is a dark dusty rose colour on my lips. It has a brown undertone to it, so it has a 90’s feel to it as well, very on trend right now.
The night before I used the lip kit, I applied the Laneige Sleeping Mask as an overnight lip care to help soften and moisturise my lips. All liquid lipsticks are drying on the lips so I would advise to slather on a lip mask the night before, or to do a lip scrub before applying the lipstick. In the photos, I put lip liner all over my lips and then applied the liquid lipstick on top because I wanted it to be really long lasting. It lasted for about 5 hours in spite of all the drinks and snacks I had. You may also just line the lips and and fill in with the liquid lip colour.
The Kylie matte liquid lipstick applies creamy and dries to an ultra matte finish. They are long lasting and also drying on the lips. I think it is more matte and drying compared to the Stila liquid lipsticks. It lasted about 5 hours on me, and had a bit of fading at the centre of my lips after an oily meal. The lip liner has a soft texture and it glides on smoothly with ease. Is it worth the hype? Well, if you are a beauty junkie, a kylie fan, or a liquid lipstick collector, then YES! If not, then it is just your typical liquid lipstick! I like that it comes with a lip liner, but so does colourpop cosmetics for less than half the price! 😄 So, are you planning to get one for yourself?
