Halloween Special: Joy from Inside Out

One more day until Halloween! You can still be Joy from Inside Out! Excited to show you guys this collaboration with my daughter Mariana! You will see her excitement during make-up application! heehee! Scroll down to see the tutorial video!

Inside Out was such a big hit this year! Children and adults alike enjoyed watching it. I know I did! My daughter wanted to be Joy from the movie, so the day before her party, we went to SM to buy the wig. It was P1399, quite expensive i know but we were in a rush and the length was perfect so we just bought it at the drop of a hat. We also went to landmark to buy a green dress. Luckily, they had a dress in the same colour as Joy’s dress in the movie, also with similar blue prints! Best part is that it was only P100+! The yellow snazaroo face and body paint was from Toy Kingdom in SM Aura (P249.)

Fast forward to the party, and Mariana won best costume!!! Yay! I felt like I won best mom award too. lol! Don’t get me wrong, I have had my boo-boo moments too! A few weeks back, I forgot that it was Helena’s halloween party in school! Fortunately, we just live 5 minutes away from her school so she did not feel bad about waiting for her costume to arrive. I felt so terrible – worst mom award! Good thing my playful and happy daughter didn’t mind! 🙂

Helena as happy tinkerbell despite my mommy boo-boo!

Here are the photos from Mariana’s halloween party:

Travel Makeup Essentials

The holidays and semestral break are nearing, and I am sure a lot of you will be packing your bags to have quick getaways before going back to the daily grind. So, I thought it might be nice to share with you my make up must haves for traveling. Number one, your make-up should last all day so make sure your make up items are long wearing and smudge proof. Number two, as much as possible, pack light! Airport security is very strict with hand carrying liquids. You are only allowed to pack liquids not exceeding 100ml per container, and all your items must fit in a resealable 1 quart sized transparent plastic bag, so just bring the essentials and get ready to go!

What was in my travel make-up kit?

  • RMK creamy gel foundation – Despite the semi-dewy finish, this foundation lasts all day on me.
  • Tarte Palette – This is one of my favourite palettes. There’s a variety of warm and cool blush shades to choose from which makes it easy to match with any lip colour. Plus, it has a contour shade as well, which i also use on my eye crease to create depth on my lids.
  • Shu Uemura Hard Formula in Acorn – Natural and defined brows are a must for me, and this gets the job done.
  • Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer – I use this for a quick and brightening concealing. It has light coverage, goes on smooth, and does not crease.
  • Maybelline Gel Liner – My tried and tested smudge free gel liner. It is affordable, and lasts from day to night without looking like a raccoon at the end of the day.
  • Purple Maybelline Mascara – The affordable falsies volume’ express waterproof mascara adds volume to the lashes.
  • Shu Uemura eyelash curler – Of course, I reckon all beautylistas have heard of this eyelash curler. Curling the lashes makes a huge difference in opening up the eyes.
  • Chanel Les Beiges – This is great to set my foundation in place and also creates a very smooth and velvety finish. It also blurs the pores.
  • Cetaphil Daylong Face and Body Sunblock – When traveling (especially during summertime,) it is a must to protect your skin. I like this water resistant, non-greasy, and non-comedogenic sunblock that was sent to me by SampleroomPH.
  • Long wearing lipsticks – I chose my favourite matte lipsticks, as these are the ones that last long. I only re-apply my lipstick after every meal. Other than that, I am picture ready!

I could not wear much eye make-up because I just had lasik surgery so having multiple choices of lip colours enabled me to have varying looks throughout the trip. Below are some of the long wearing lipsticks I brought with me, and also photos from the trip where I used those babies in action!

Other lipsticks I brought with me that were not included in the photos above are the MAC Ruby Woo – a classic red colour that suits most skin tones, and the Too Faced Melted Nude – a perfect peachy nude colour. The OCC liptars are long wearing, but you will still need to pack a lip brush with you for retouching. In my opinion, it is still more convenient to bring the lipstick tubes because you can conveniently just apply the lipstick straight from the bullet. When traveling, try to apply make-up as quickly as you can. I usually give myself about 15 minutes. Please do not be that travel partner who spends hours getting ready! Remember, exploring and discovering new places must be the number one priority! That’s about it! Carpe Diem and safe travels!

Contouring and Highlighting Tutorial

Hi everyone! This is the kind of contouring and highlighting that I do when I know that I will be taking a lot of photos -cream contour followed by powder contour. I love how make-up can give the illusion of a slimmer nose, face, forehead and jaw! I hope you find this useful and that you enjoy doing it on yourself! I am pretty sure that you will be happy with the results -instant face lift!!! (sans the pain of surgery! :P) I am also sharing with you some of my holy grail products in this video! My current favourites are the RMK Creamy Foundation, Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-colour, Laneige Cushion Highlighter, and Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. Have fun! Remember, you are beautiful, inside and out! 🙂 xoxo

We visited London during the summer, and the weather was actually pretty good. It was cool and sunny, with just a few rain showers. There is a plethora of activities to do and places to see there, and four days were definitely not enough to explore the city! We purchased the London Pass on our first day, and we were able to visit many places (with skip the line priviledges,) such as the Tower Bridge, Tower of London, The London Tombs, and access to the Thames River Cruise as well. For the next few days, we did more sightseeing, and saw Big Ben, London Eye, and Westminster Abbey. We walked along Notting Hill, Oxford Street – a famous shopping destination, and also Picadilly Circus at night – famous for its vibrant energy and neon lights.

Tower Bridge

Thames River Cruise and London Bridge

We went on the Thames River Cruise, and saw the London Bridge. There it is. It was an anti-climatic experience. lol.

We went inside The London Tombs. It was an entertaining way to learn about the history of London. Be prepared to get scared!

Big Ben

What a beauty!

London Eye

It is the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel. Amazing view of London from up here.

Leadenhall Market

Found this place hidden somewhere as we were walking around. I thought it looked nice so we stopped to have a picture. Little did i know that it was the Leadenhall Market, also known as Diagon Alley from Harry Potter.

Stonehenge – We decided to book a half a day tour to see the Stonehenge.

“The stonehenge is an ancient temple aligned on the movements of the sun. The stones were raised 4,500 years ago by sophisticated prehistoric people.”
We were able to take a good photo right before the rain poured down on us.

Food posts coming up! One thing i love most about traveling is trying out new food and restaurants! My husband and I love to eat!

Duck and Waffle – This is  a good place to have breakfast or brunch with a view, located in Heron Tower.

I loved this duck and waffle breakfast!
I enjoyed this duck and waffle breakfast. I love the combination of flavours  – the crunchy duck’s salty flavour paired with the waffle and sweet syrup.
Who would not want to have breakfast with this amazing view?!

Sushi Samba – It is a modern Japanese restaurant, also located in Heron Tower. If you plan to eat here, make reservations online.

The cold sake was sweet and delicious. Cheers!
Sushi Anyone?
Kobe Beef

Borough Market – We went on a Wednesday and only a few stalls were opened, nevertheless we were still able to eat good and inexpensive food. It is definitely a must to visit.

This bomba paella is really good! You would think it was made in Spain!

Shake Shack at Covent Garden!!! oink!!
I had my english breakfast, somewhere along Notting Hill. This one is the best eggs benedict I have tasted!

I can never stop myself from shopping whenever I travel! I believe it is more practical to buy things from their country of origin. Right??! lol. My shopping agenda in London was of course make-up! This is where I did some make-up damage! Hello Charlotte Tilbury!

My best friend at the Charlotte Tilbury counter in Selfridges.

When we were at the counter to pay, my husband looked flabbergasted (well, fine, more like appalled) to see my make-up bill. Upon seeing my husband’s reaction, the make-up artist quickly retaliated by saying “That’s fine! It will make your wife more beautiful.” lol! MUAs Unite! I just reacted with a grin – a cheshire cat grin! haha! It seemed to have eased the tension. lol!

oops!! I did it again..

Overall, London is a place that I would love to visit again. It is quite lovely during the summer. The weather was perfect – cool and sunny! It is amazing how European countries are able preserve their old churches, buildings, and monuments. It is modern mixed with old history, and also very cosmopolitan, which makes it a diverse and interesting place to see. There are also many parks and hidden beautiful corners. Who would have thought I would stumble across Diagon Alley?! We were also able to see Wicked at London’s West end. I enjoyed it, albeit I had a sleeping husband seated beside me. (Thank God he did not snore!! eep!) There are really endless attractions and activities to do in London! It is a place i see myself visiting again in the future, hopefully with the kids next time.

I would like to end this post with this photo at platform 9 3/4.

Bye!!! See you soon, Muggles!!!

Dream Living Spaces at Shangri-La Plaza Mall

Last October 8, 2015, Shangri-La Plaza launched their Dream Living Spaces Exhibit. It is a privilege to be selected as one of their featured designers, and I had so much fun curating and designing a small kitchen and dining area for them. I had to choose pieces of furniture, kitchen gadgets, and accessories from the participating stores such as Bo Concept, Restorations, GE Monogram, Hacker, Rustan’s Department Store, D&B Kitchen Essentials, Kitchen Works, Cutting Edge, Kitchen Pro, and Smeg. Personally, my favourite furniture stores in Shangri-La are Restorations and Bo Concept. I bought my lamps for my house from Restorations, and I love the elegant pieces there.

Restoration: I love their chrome stools. I imagined it to be the kitchen stools, if only the space were bigger.

Smeg was also quite impressive! Their refrigerators are quite popular, and I also love this knobless touchscreen oven that has a self cleaning mode as well!

Oven Selfie!

I had a few hours to visit the stores and pick out the things I like. It was a breeze picking up accessories, but we encountered a problem while picking out our appliances. We were informed that we could not pull out the modular kitchens as base for the oven and cooktop! Good thing Shangrila worked swiftly and found a way to build and produce a make shift countertop in one day!
